According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a summer swoop for Marseille right-back Hiroki Sakai.
Capable of operating on either side of the back four, Sakai has reportedly emerged as a viable target for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
However, the report goes on to claim that Spurs are concerned over the defender’s age and would rather sign players under 23.
It does seem a strange one, although Sakai has been to two World Cups with his country and has made 122 appearances for Marseille in all competitions.
It is shaping up to be a very busy transfer window for the Champions League finalists.
However, it would be fair to say that the London club’s fans are not interested in a swoop for Sakai ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
