The midfielder and the defender have both committed their futures to the club until 2024.

Winks has become a first-team star under Mauricio Pochettino, making a total of 102 appearances for the club, while Davies has enjoyed steady progress since joining from Swansea City in 2014.

The Wales international has made 168 appearances for the club in total and played 40 times in all competitions last season.

Winks, an England international who has won three caps, struggled with injury in 2018/19 but made 41 appearances; he also played 66 minutes in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

A solid double deal

Winks’ future is secure at the club and that feels like a major statement.

The Englishman has emerged as one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most trusted lieutenants on the pitch and he is still only 23.

The best, then, is yet to come, and it speaks to him retaining a high-profile role next season after the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

Davies, meanwhile, is a solid full-back who does his job with a minimum of fuss.

He may not be as spectacular as Danny Rose, who is a more forward-thinking left-back, but he also offers the versatility to drop into central defence as and when Spurs require him to do so.

He is nothing short of a solid hand, and this deal rewards his loyalty if nothing else.

Spurs fans, then, can rest assured that two of their most useful squad players will be remaining in north London.
