Spurs completed a club-record move for Ndombele earlier this week, paying £53.8m to acquire his signature from Lyon, per BBC Sport.

The France international was reportedly Mauricio Pochettino’s top target for the summer transfer window.

And Winks is excited to play alongside the star, insisting that both Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko, compatriots of the midfielder, have waxed lyrical about him.

He said: "We've heard a lot about him through Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko, both have played with him at France. We've heard he's a top player.

“We haven't seen too much of him through watching him on TV because obviously he's been in the French league.

"From what we've heard and the clips we have seen of him he looks like a fantastic addition to the squad and we're looking forward to welcoming him when we get back in."

A brilliant acquisition

A club has done good business when their own players are praising signings.

Ndombele is a statement signing, with Spurs reportedly beating off competition from Manchester United to bring him in.

He will surely slot straight into the starting XI, with reports having claimed that Pochettino was incredibly keen on securing his signature.

And he could be just what Spurs need; they lost Mousa Dembele in January and have thus far failed to replace him.

Bringing in Ndombele solves that problem at a stroke and will add an extra, powerful body to the centre of the pitch.
