Dele Alli’s goal at Crystal Palace last season was one of the most memorable moments of the campaign. The young midfielder controlled the ball, flicked it over his head, swirled around and unleashed a thunderous shot that flew in at the near post.
Fans were, quite rightly, wowed by the skill showed by the now England international, who has proven it was not really a fluke by scoring a fair few other belters since.
So, if it wasn’t a lucky swing at the ball, another player can repeat it, right? Well, Tottenham’s Harry Winks was tasked with having a go…
As the video shows, Winks managed to score a very similar goal, albeit the lack of defenders pressuring him and the fact that he had to perform the necessary skills in a very different environment made the whole episode somewhat unlike Alli’s actual goal.
Alas, maybe we will see Winks score a similar effort if he gets some chances over the coming months.
