Harry Redknapp rued the loss of Jermain Defoe, in light of the North Londoners home defeat against Stoke City.
Defoe picked up a three game ban after being sent off for petulance in the previous win at Fratton Park and was sorely missed as Spurs fired blanks for only the second time this season.
The Tottenham boss is convinced that had Defoe played on Saturday that he would have made all the difference in the final third, as Stoke wouldn’t have been unable to handle him and believes that his absence is costing them dear:
“Defoe would have scored if he had played because he’s that sharp.
“But he cost us when he got sent off last week. I told him it wasn’t just getting sent off but we’ll miss you for three games. This was a big game, Arsenal’s a big game next week, they’re important games we can’t afford to lose him for.” (Sun)
