Tottenham’s resolve to be tested with £8m bid

Neil Warnock is reportedly monitoring Jermain Defoe’s situation at Tottenham with a view to bringing him to QPR in the January transfer window the Daily Mail understands.

The R’s boss is desperate to sign a proven Premier League striker to boost a front line which has managed to score just eight goals in 10 games this season.

Warnock knows his side need to start finding the net on a regular basis if they are to remain in the top-flight past the current campaign and his now supposedly weighing up a bid for Defoe.

The 29-year-old has been relegated to third choice at White Hart Lane with Harry Redknapp opting to start with Emmanuel Adebayor up front with Rafael Van Der Vaart tucked in behind.

Despite scoring five goals already this season the England man has been consigned to the bench for much of the season which could lead to him seeking first team football elsewhere.

Rangers will be able to guarantee that with Warnock positive he can convince Defoe that his future lies at Loftus Road and is apparently set to test Spurs’ resolve with a £8 million bid in when the transfer window opens.

The club certainly has location on it’s side after Newcastle, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Everton struggled to tempt the former Portsmouth man away from London in the summer.
