A new season brings many joyous things with it, but perhaps the most exciting is the chance to see the new boys that are signed over the summer.
One of the most intriguing deals of the summer was Nathan Redmond’s move from relegated Norwich to Southampton for a fee of £11m.
Having worked with him in training, the new Saints boss, Claude Puel, heaped some of the highest praise on the former Birmingham man, saying that he reminded him of Thierry Henry with whom he worked earlier in his career.
These quotes may have seemed rather over the top at the time, all until Saturday as, when called upon, the forward came up good with a spectacular finish to pull Puel’s side level in their opening game against Watford.
