Twitter in open rebellion against Arsenal boss after £30m snub

Early on in the transfer market, Arsene Wenger looked as if he was addressing some of the criticism levelled at him so often.

Not long into the proverbial silly season, the Frenchman splashed upwards of £30m on Swiss superstar Granit Xhaka in order to add some steel into the midfield.

As fantastic as that was to those in North London, the transfer dormancy that has dogged the club in recent years would rear its ugly head once more.

With an injury crisis undermining their backline ahead of today’s season opener against Liverpool, the presence of the 23-year old was perhaps the only bright spot.

However, in perhaps typical Wenger fashion, Le Prof has seemingly done his best to invoke the ire of the Emirates faithful.

Xhaka will start on the bench for the club, further adding to a complexion of a team openly criticised on Twitter.

Whether or not it will prove to be a masterstroke remains to be seen, though Wenger has once again started the season on a sour note.
