We have our first goal in tonight’s game between Everton and Arsenal and it’s come in comical fashion.
Well, comical if you’re not an Everton fan and especially if you’re not Ashley Williams, who has had an absolute shocker.
The former Swansea man begun his own mini crusade to put the Toffees 1-0 down in the 17th minute as he mistimed a challenge on Francis Coquelin and instead cleared out team-mate Idrissa Gueye with a knee-high tackle.
As Coquelin ran on he was then fouled to give Arsenal a free kick on the edge of the area, which we duly had to wait for as Gueye was left flattened out on the turf.
Eventually he got up and just when you thought it couldn’t get worse for Williams, Alexis Sanchez’s pretty tame free-kick cannoned off him and into the net – cuing disbelief around Goodison Park.
