Arsenal are looking to get past the Round of 16 in the Champions League for the first time in five campaigns tonight, as they welcome AS Monaco to the Emirates for their first-leg clash.
Games in north London, since the move to the wonderful venue around the corner from Highbury, have that sense of magic when you see the lights out in full force on the Emirates turf. And that sense of magic will be heightened for Arsene Wenger tonight, given the fact he managed the Ligue 1 opposition for seven years earlier in his career.
The build-up has been centred around Le Professeur’s time in France and journey that eventually had him rock up at Arsenal, where he revolutionised English football and made Arsenal the global force they’re today.
Despite the respect flying around for the Gunners gaffer, I’m not sure it warranted the Arsenal matchday programme offering the chance to have your very own Arsene Wenger cut-out…
Just a nice cardboard cut-out Wenger in the Arsenal programme tonight pic.twitter.com/LjEWE9xe20

Of course that’s an Arsene Wenger cut out from tonights prog. What else would it be? A magic miniature manager? *pitches idea to Channel 5*

“Darling, why have you still got that miniature Arsene Wenger cardboard cut out on your desk?” “I just want to feel the fourth”

I'd rather my club give out plastic flags than a miniature cardboard cut out of Arsene Wenger.
