Brendan Rodgers knows that the world of football expects nothing more than a convincing Liverpool win in the Champions League tonight against FC Ludogorets, as the Reds gaffer looks to put an end to their four-game losing streak.
During last season, even when Liverpool were challenging for the Premier League crown, the Reds defence came in for a lot of criticism and that has increased tenfold during this campaign with Liverpool currently sitting in the bottom half of England’s top tier.
In order to stop the rot, as it were, Swansea City’s former gaffer has opted to drop Liverpool’s summer signing from Southampton Dejan Lovren for tonight’s game, with Kolo Toure coming into the starting line-up.
The former Arsenal and Manchester City defender received a lot of praise for his performance in the earlier group game against Real Madrid and it now appears that the Ivorian is Rodgers’ preferred partner for Martin Skrtel in Europe.
Liverpool spent 20M on lovren only to be moved like this ? Haha http://t.co/4eL4dWbEVO

How on earth is Glen Johnson still in the Liverpool team? What a joke. At least Lovren has finally been dropped, about time.

Brilliant that Toure starts & Lovren’s dropped, really nobody deserves to start in our XI after our recent performances so a change is good.

Thank God. Kolo starts, Lovren dropped. Lucas starting is good too, an actual defensive mid. Why Glen is starting however..
