Chelsea are on a roll. Their biggest roll for quite some time, as it happens.
Guus Hiddink may still unbeaten as Chelsea manager, but the real ‘roll’ I speak of only really applies to the last two matches. Some of the same problems have persisted over the last few weeks since the departure of Jose Mourinho and the arrival of Guus Hiddink, but two wins in a row may have changed the way the wind blows at Stamford Bridge.
Victory over Arsenal at the Emirates wasn’t too shabby, and neither was putting five past MK Dons in the FA Cup, especially as Eden Hazard managed to finally get amongst the goals.
With Manchester United to come at the weekend, Chelsea will want to keep the momentum going with a victory over the Hornets tonight and achieve some sort of redemption before the end of the season.
Watford, meanwhile, are looking for some redemption of their own. With only one league win to speak of in 2016, Quique Flores’s men are stuttering somewhat, although they are through to the FA Cup fifth round and have a great chance of making it to a quarter final for the first time since 2007. They will, however, be hoping for a league victory sooner rather than later just to make sure they don’t start a spectacular fall down the table.
