Newcastle travel to Vicarage Road this weekend buoyed by their impressive 2-1 victory over West Ham, which was heavily influenced by £12m January signing Jonjo Shelvey.
Steve McClaren’s side are now just a single point adrift from safety heading in to this clash and could help drag Watford in to a possible relegation battle with all three points this weekend.
Newcastle fell to a 1-0 defeat at Vicarage Road in the FA Cup third round earlier this month, which will give Quique Sanchez Flores’ Watford side confidence that they can end their current run of four straight Premier League defeats and five without victory.
It’s that kind of run which has turned Watford from potential top ten candidates in to a side nervously looking over their shoulder in the bottom half of the division.
However, Watford have lost every home game in which they’ve conceded this season so they will have to be on the ball defensively to keep the likes of Ayoze Perez Aleksandar Mitrovic quiet.
