Watford vs. Spurs – Confirmed starting XIs

With Liverpool having beaten Manchester City in the last game of 2016, Spurs enter the New Year knowing that a win vs. Watford will lift them up to third in the Premier League for a few hours, at least.

The north London club are currently on a three-game winning run after a disappointing loss at Manchester United and showed the sort of gutsy form that summed up their 2015/16 campaign when they came from 1-0 down to beat Southampton 1-4 on Wednesday night.

Watford, meanwhile, enter this one having won just once since November 19th’s beating of champions Leicester, and seem to have lost the form that saw them in a steady upper midtable position earlier in the campaign.

Craig Cathcart and Troy Deeney are back in after missing the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last time out, while Abdoulaye Doucoure makes his league debut for the Hornets.

Spurs are without both Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen, with the pair suspended following the win over Southampton. In their places Kieran Trippier and Kevin Wimmer step in, while Harry Kane is once again up front.
