As reported in an exclusive by The Sun, Walter Mazzarri is ready to make a move for Bournemouth winger Max Gradel in this month’s transfer window.
Having not made a single Premier League start at Bournemouth this season, it seems that Max Gradel is surplus to requirements on the South coast. One club however is ready to head his spell on the sidelines.
The Sun say Watford are determined to sign the Ivorian winger this month when he returns from international duty at the African Cup of Nations.
Gradel is said to be unhappy at Dean Court, frustrated with his lack of first team action after signing a new deal at the club last summer.
Watford have struggled for goals in the Premier League this season with no player scoring more than five goals in league action.
They badly need more creativity in the wide areas and in that sense, a move for the likes of Gradel makes perfect sense.
Gradel has the ability to go on extended runs of form as shown in seasons past at St. Etienne and Leeds United. In 2014/15 he scored 17 league goals in 30 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
It’s that kind of goal threat that Watford badly need and if they can get the deal done at a decent value it could be a transfer beneficial to all parties.
