Watford aiming to seal La Liga winner on loan for the rest of the season

Watford have renewed discussions with Serie A side Fiorentina over the potential transfer of Mario Suarez, according to Sky Sports.

The former Atletico Madrid ace worked closely with current Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores while in the Spanish capital before moving to Florence this summer.

Despite his impressive CV, the Spain midfielder has not enjoyed the best of spells in Tuscany, starting just four games all season.

Talks are believed to have stalled after an initial loan deal was agreed two weeks ago, though the Hertfordshire outfit are said to be eager to push a deal through.

The 28-year old has also been linked with Liverpool this month as he bids to find a return to first-team football.

He made 120 appearances for Atletico over two spells with the club, becoming a stalwart of the side that won the La Liga title and reached the Champions League final under Diego Simeone in 2014.
