Watford thumped Cardiff City by a 5-1 scoreline at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday. A hat-trick from Gerard Deulofeu and a brace for the Hornets’ talismanic No. 9 Troy Deeney sealed the points in emphatic fashion for Javi Gracia’s side.

Watford were by far the better side and deserved to win by such a healthy margin. Not only did the goalscorers impress but Abdoulaye Doucoure also had a fine game in the middle of the park. The 26-year-old was a powerful force in midfield, dictating the pace of the game, breaking up opposition attacks, and forging goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

The Frenchman has been consistently impressive all season and may well be attracting attention from bigger sides after an absolute midfield master-class on Friday. The Mirror reported in January that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United have all scouted Doucoure in his time at Vicarage Road.

After his fine performance on Friday, plenty of Watford fans took to Twitter to applaud his contribution…
