Watford fans rip into Roberto Pereyra for his FA Cup final performance

Watford suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, and Hornets fans absolutely ripped into midfielder Roberto Pereyra both during and after the match on Twitter.

The Hertfordshire-based outfit would have been aiming to cause an upset at the home of English football, and they had the perfect opportunity to take the lead early on when Pereyra found himself one-on-one with Ederson, but the Brazilian saved with his legs.

It was a glorious opportunity and Javi Gracia’s men were soon made to pay, but the miss wasn’t too surprising given the Argentine hasn’t found the net since Boxing Day following an impressive start to the campaign.

His performances in recent months certainly haven’t been up to the same level as they were in 2018 given he has no assists in 2019 either, and that must surely be a concern for Gracia considering the left-sided position the 28-year-old has on the pitch.

Watford supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Pereyra, and it’s fair to say that they weren’t impressed as they took strong aim at the South American.

Are Watford the most likely club to break the top 7 next season? The fans in the video below certainly agree the ‘W’ part in the statement is correct…

While one said he “has been the worst player in this team for months”, another labelled him as a “pathetic bottler”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
