In the summer, it seemed that there were not many clubs vying for the signature of Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, but now, the German World Cup winner is reportedly being coveted by Manchester United.
The widespread media have claimed that the Red Devils have an interest in the German World Cup winner, and according to the Metro, Jose Mourinho wants a deal done in January.
The situation involving Ozil and his teammate Alexis Sanchez puts Arsenal in a difficult position.
The 29-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of this season, which means that the player will be free to leave the Emirates for nothing next summer.
If the club allow Ozil to head for the exit gates next month, then they will receive a fee for the former Real Madrid star.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted, though, that the midfielder will not be given the green light to join Manchester United in the coming weeks.
According to talkSPORT, while speaking to the press, the Frenchman said:
“We have never been approached by Man United anyway, so I don’t see why that came up and who found that. It’s always something that has been created. Until the end of the season, for sure [he will stay]. The rest is open.”
