Clarke rejects Lukaku’s Swansea link

West Brom forward Romelu Lukaku

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has rejected reports that on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku could move to Swansea this summer.

Lukaku has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Baggies on his season-long loan move from Chelsea, scoring 13 Premier League goals.

Albion have made it clear they would like to extend his stay at the Hawthorns if possible but, due to the uncertainty over who will be in charge at Stamford Bridge next term, Lukaku’s future remains uncertain.

The 19-year-old may well end up back at Chelsea but he has also been linked with several other clubs, including Swansea.

However, Clarke has rejected those claims out of hand, saying: “There is nothing in it. It is idle gossip – it’s lazy.

“I read in the press he’s going to Swansea – but I would be very surprised if he ends up there.”
