New Baggies boss to be given January transfer war chest

New West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has been handed a January transfer window war chest of  £15 million as he looks to keep the Baggies in the Premier League.

56 year-old Pulis – who was named the Premier League Manager of the Year last season for guiding Crystal Palace to safety – was appointed as the new West Brom manager following the sacking of Alan Irvine earlier in the week.

One of Pulis’s primary transfer targets is believed to be Stoke City striker Peter Crouch, with the pair having worked together when the Welshman was in charge of the Potters.

Pulis is expected to bring his long-term assistant Dave Kemp with him to the Hawthorns as well as other members of staff, possibly including Gerry Francis. It is believed that club coach Keith Downing, who has twice served as a caretaker manager twice, will be moved on. Downing had also been a target of criticism from the club’s supporters.
