Sam Allardyce revealed that he was advised to leave the club’s leading goalscorer Diafra Sakho out of the Hammers clash against Liverpool following FIFA’s decision to look into his absence from the African Cup of Nations.
It cost the Hammers as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Brendan Rodgers’ side and also ended up with a £71,000 fine following their decision to play Sakho the following week against Bristol City in the FA Cup – a game in which the striker bagged the only goal of the game.
Anyway, that is all old news now and Sakho, who has eight goals from 11 starts in England’s top flight, returns to West Ham’s starting line-up for the clash with previous Premier League winners Manchester United.
As you’d expect, the West Ham faithful are delighted to see Diafra Sakho back in the mix and reunited with fellow summer signing Enner Valencia – a reported target for Chelsea.
