West Ham have lodged a late bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to Sky Sports News HQ.
The Hammers are hoping to replace the outgoing Carlton Cole, who is currently having a medical at Premier League strugglers West Bromwich Albion.
And Sky Sports News are reporting that the Upton Park outfit are hopeful of bringing in the the 30-year-old hitman before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
The Hammers are experiencing a late flurry of transfer activity today, with reports emerging of a possible loan move to Queens Park Rangers for winger Matt Jarvis, with striker Mauro Zarate returning to the Hammers as part of that deal.
And with Cole expected to complete a move to West Brom this evening, West Ham could be set for a busy final hour of the January transfer window.
And to add to the transfer speculation surrounding the Hammers’ activity, co-chairman David Gold tweeted shortly after the Adebayor news had been broken: “Don’t go to bed.”
However, The Telegraph were reporting earlier that Daniel Levy had blocked Adebayor’s move to West Ham because he sees the Hammers as a direct threat to their top four ambitions.
