Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that attacker Pedro could be a doubt for his side's trip to the London Stadium to face West Ham United on Sunday, and the news will come as music to the ears of Irons left-back Aaron Cresswell.

What's the word, then?

Well, the east London outfit face a tough task to pick up their second successive Premier League win when they host Maurizio Sarri’s side this weekend, with their neighbours from the capital winning all five of their top-flight fixtures so far this term.

They picked up another victory in the Europa League on Thursday night as they beat PAOK 1-0 in Greece, but the three points came at a cost as Pedro was substituted off with a shoulder injury following a collision with goalkeeper Alexandros Paschalakis.

While it appears as though the issue isn't really serious, it still seems likely that the Spaniard is a doubt to make the starting XI come Sunday.

Why will Cresswell be a relieved man?

Even though the 28-year-old didn't start as West Ham ended a run of four consecutive defeats on Merseyside last weekend, he is surely likely to replace Arthur Masuaku against the in-form Blues given he is defensively stronger than the Frenchman.

While Pedro may have often flattered to deceive under the leadership of Antonio Conte previously, he looks to be a completely different player under Sarri so far this season.

The 31-year-old has been a key player in attack for Chelsea and has three goals in five Premier League appearances this term, and there is no doubt that his pace and quality would have been a big threat at the London Stadium.

Should Cresswell start ahead of Masuaku he will be pleased to learn of Pedro's potential absence, although their opponents' strength in depth is shown by the fact that Willian should come into the XI to replace him.
