It was Albian Ajeti's birthday on Wednesday, which led to West Ham United sending a happy birthday message to the Switzerland international on their official Twitter page.

The 23-year-old was looking happy at training in the picture they chose to use in order to recognise the occasion, but that certainly didn't sum up the mood of fans.

They made their opinions that Ajeti has been hard-done-by well known in response to the post.

Ajeti has had very little game time this campaign, and rather incredibly is still yet to start a single Premier League game after signing from FC Basel during the summer transfer window.

This leaves him with just eight substitute appearances in the league, as well as three starts across the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, with no goals being scored during that time.

Did he really play for us?! No West Ham fan has managed to name all of these obscure Irons signings....

One fan has said "we apologise for ruining your career", while another has described him as "mismanaged talent".

Some fans have even been saying things such as "I think he cleans the boots" and asking whether he plays for the club in order to accentuate the point of how little he has played.

The Switzerland international has played just six minutes of league football since David Moyes arrived at London Stadium, while he didn't even make it onto the bench against Manchester City or Liverpool.

With all of the above in mind, it feels pretty unlikely that Ajeti will get a late birthday present of his first Premier League start against Southampton.

Meanwhile, West Ham fans have been encouraging one player after a blow for the club.
