West Ham United winger Andriy Yarmolenko scored the winning goal for Ukraine in their 1-0 win against Slovakia on Sunday, with his performance raising more than a few question marks over Manuel Pellegrini's decision-making.

The 28-year-old was one of the east London outfit's marquee signings during the summer and fans likely would have expected him to hit the ground running at the London Stadium, but it hasn't happened yet for whatever reason.

Despite featuring for them during pre-season, the attacker has played just 195 minutes of competitive football for the Hammers thus far, with just 105 minutes of those 195 coming in the Premier League with the likes of Robert Snodgrass, Michail Antonio and Felipe Anderson preferred ahead of him.

While it is true that he missed a chunk of the second-half of the 2017/18 season because of injury, he did return prior to the end of the campaign to allay any long-term recovery problems, but that hasn't been enough to convince Pellegrini he is worthy of a starting spot.

That may well have changed following his latest display for Ukraine, where he started slowly but grew into the game, before netting the goal that separated the teams from the penalty spot in the 80th minute.

Additionally, he showed the danger he brings in open play with a passing accuracy of 92%, while he also produced one key pass and three crosses to help his nation win.

With West Ham losing all four of their Premier League matches so far this season ahead of a trip to Everton this weekend, Yarmolenko will surely get the nod ahead of a disappointing Antonio after proving that he deserves an opportunity and that his manager doesn't know what he's talking about.
