West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio has vowed to find the back of the net in this weekend’s Premier League game against Burnley.
Antonio has been on the scoresheet in West Ham’s last two Premier League defeats to Liverpool and Swansea City on the road.
However, the 27-year-old has not netted for the Hammers at the London Stadium since a brace against Watford in September 2016.
The Englishman is being tipped for a recall into David Moyes’ starting XI on Saturday afternoon, and he has promised a home goal against the Clarets.
Antonio told West Ham’s official website:
“I haven’t scored at home since September 2016? Wow! I thought I was a ‘home scorer’ and scored most of my goals at home, but clearly that hasn’t been the case for quite a while.
“I’m on a little run now, though, and hopefully I can continue that by scoring at London Stadium on against Burnley on Saturday.
“I scored three at home at the start of last season, so it’s weird to hear that it’s been 18 months since I scored there. It’s crazy, in fact, but this Saturday that curse will be broken!”
Antonio, who has had his disciplinary problems this season, managed nine Premier League goals for West Ham during the 2017-18 campaign.
The Hammers have lost three of their last four in the top flight, with that poor run of form seeing them drop into 14th spot in the table after 29 matches of the season.
