It may have dragged out over almost the entirety of transfer deadline day, but West Ham finally got their deal for Jarrod Bowen over the line.

In the end, the 23-year-old signed a five-and-a-half year deal with the Hammers, with Hull to receive £22m for their star player. He will no doubt be a huge loss to the Tigers - in 131 appearances, he managed 54 goals, including 16 this season alone in the Championship.

Now, of course, the question is how he slots in to David Moyes' side. Bowen can play in a number of positions across the forward line, but has shown particularly impressive signs on the right-hand side - that's where he has played most of his games so far this term in a 4-2-3-1 formation. The winger has notched 11 times and provided a further three assists in the 23 matches he has been deployed there for Hull.

That is a set-up that Moyes has used just once since he arrived at the London Stadium, and it brought him his only league win to date as well. In that 4-0 victory against Bournemouth, £19.8m-valued Pablo Fornals - as per Transfermarkt - lined up on the left side of the three behind the striker, whilst Felipe Anderson featured in the central attacking midfield position.

The former Lazio man has had a good time of it in that role this term. In five matches, he has picked up an average WhoScored rating of 7.28, and it is there that he has scored his only goal. The 26-year-old is clearly a talented player, but at left midfield, he has at times struggled to be as effective as in the middle - he has just 2.4 dribbles on the left compared to four per match in the number 10 position.

In trying to get the best out of Bowen, his most expensive signing during this January transfer window, Moyes could stumble across a system that may also give £40.5m-valued Anderson and Fornals the best possible platform to produce. His sole victory has come with a system that Bowen clearly knows well, and his number eight could have an extra edge in a different position.

West Ham have struggled for goals this term - only six sides in the top flight have less than their 30 - and this switch-up could give them the edge they need.

Meanwhile, West Ham failed in a bid for this defender on transfer deadline day.
