Speaking on Sky Sports' The Debate show (10:45pm Tuesday night), former West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has slammed Irons winger Felipe Anderson for his display in the 3-2 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Monday night.

What did he say?

Well, Cole was speaking about David Moyes’ men’s unfortunate loss on Merseyside given they led 2-1 at one point in the second half, and he brought up the Brazilian attacker.

The 36-year-old told The Debate: "Anderson is for me a great player. He's just not pulling his weight about at the moment. I don't like to batter my colleagues as footballers, but he should be doing a lot more than that because he's got so much talent, but he just didn't really look bothered for me yesterday."

Has he got a point?

He certainly does.

Remember, this is a player who cost the east London outfit an initial £36m when he signed from Lazio in the summer of 2018.

Last season he did well with nine goals and four assists in 36 Premier League outings – although only one goal and two assists came between the start of 2019 and the end of the campaign.

This term he has one goal and four assists in 20 Premier League outings, with three of those assists coming before the month of October.

With January addition Jarrod Bowen surely pushing for a starting spot right now having come off of the bench against Manchester City and Liverpool, the South American's starting XI position will be under threat unless he shows an improvement in the coming days and weeks.
