Edimilson Fernandes has left West Ham United to join Bundesliga outfit Mainz on a permanent deal, the Hammers confirmed on Monday afternoon.
The 23-year-old spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan with Fiorentina – contributing two goals and two assists in 29 Serie A appearances for the Italian outfit.
A number of West Ham fans recently took to social media to call on head coach Manuel Pellegrini to hand Fernandes the chance to impress next season.
However, the eight-time Switzerland international has now been moved on permanently.
Fernandes showed glimpses of his talent for West Ham – making 48 appearances for the Premier League outfit in all competitions.
Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini has deemed the midfielder surplus to requirements, though, and that has not gone down well with the club’s supporters.
Indeed, a number of West Ham fans have taken to social media to reveal their displeasure that Fernandes has been allowed to depart on a permanent deal.
