Dimitri Payet again showed on Sunday why he is a hero with the West Ham United support, scoring in the Hammers’ 2-2 draw away to Liverpool.
Despite not quite hitting the heights we saw from him last season, he will again be key for Slaven Bilic throughout the season, especially if they’re to get dragged into a relegation fight in the new year.
Irons fans will be comforted then, knowing that Payet is one of Europe’s most creative players, as this stat from @Squawka shows.
The midfielder has created 47 chances for West Ham this season, the leading amount ahead of any player playing for any team in Europe’s top 5 leagues. Only Ryad Boudebouz, playing for Montpellier in Ligue 1, has achieved the same creative output.
Payet has extraordinary ability and if he can begin to contribute more assists and goals again for the Irons then fears of relegation could seem like a distant memory in May.
Most chances created:
Premier League: Payet (47)
Ligue 1: Boudebouz (47)
Serie A: Salah (44)
Bundesliga: Grifo (40)
LaLiga: Neymar (36) pic.twitter.com/hZXlyVOzgT
