Everton's Premier League clash with West Ham on Sunday is Football FanCast's Fixture in Focus this week, for one main reason - the fact we simply can't choose between these two sides.

On paper, the Toffees and the Hammers boast almost equal quality, with plenty of Premier League experience and one talismanic entity (Dimitri Payet and Romelu Lukaku) apiece.

Likewise, their seasons thus far have been almost perfect negative images of each other; the Hammers starting poorly before redeeming themselves with three straight wins across all competitions, the Merseysiders looking like potential top four candidates until a run of five without victory.

Consequentially, Sunday's 1.30pm kickoff will be as close an encounter as you'll see in the Premier League this weekend.

And rather than any form of inspiration from the dugout, such affairs usually boil down to which side goes on to dominate their individual battles. With that in mind, we have taken a look at four that will likely decide the result on Sunday...

Seamus Coleman vs Aaron Cresswell

Manchester City v Everton - Premier League

They say full-back is one of the most important positions on the pitch nowadays and these two epitomise that trend, famed for their surging runs on the overlap and contributions in the final third.

Indeed, Aaron Cresswell's left-footed deliveries have been sorely missed during his sustained absence this season, whilst Seamus Coleman's driving dribbles from the opposite flank have been a defining feature of Everton's attacking play over the last few years.

With Cresswell in line to continue his wing-back berth and Coleman a shoo-in at No.2, these two will be going toe-to-toe for much of the ninety minutes on Sunday.

As ever the case with forward-thinking full-backs, however, this battle will be decided by who balances out their offensive and defensive duties without surrendering space for the other attack on the counter.

Dimitri Payet vs Idrissa Gueye

Dimitri Payet

Idrissa Gueye has thoroughly impressed since arriving at Goodison Park from Aston Villa in the summer, going on to average the most tackles per match - a staggering 4.9 - of any player in the Premier League, whilst offering much-needed energy alongside Gareth Barry in Everton's engine room.

But the defensive midfielder faces arguably his toughest challenge of the season thus far in Dimitri Payet - curiously enough, the Premier League's top creator with 4.3 scoring opportunities provided per match.

It's a classic tale of the unstoppable force versus the immovable object. But in truth, Gueye can't be expected to keep a leash on Payet single-handed - especially with Manuel Lanzini lining up alongside him in attacking midfield.

Containing the French playmaker, who'll take a free role just behind the striker, must be a team effort from the Toffees.

Romelu Lukaku vs Angelo Ogbonna

Romelu Lukaku

Beastly Belgian Romelu Lukaku is in fine form once again this season, bringing his overall Premier League haul to 66 strikes since making his top flight debut for Chelsea as a teenager. That includes six goals in eight appearances so far in 2016/17, propelling him to second in the division's scoring charts.

Quick, powerful and a handful in the air, stopping Lukaku from getting on the scoresheet will be no easy task for a Hammers outfit with the second-worst goals conceded record in the division.

But if there's one Irons defender who can match Lukaku physically, it's Angelo Ogbonna - a true specimen of a centre-half with a great leap and unassuming speed. He's got half a chance of keeping up with Lukaku in a footrace, whilst keeping him quiet in the air.

Gareth Barry vs Mark Noble

Gareth Barry

Gareth Barry and Mark Noble may not be the most fashionable of footballers but they encapsulate the heart and souls of their respective sides, offering typically English grit yet a bit of culture in central midfield.

So far this season, Barry's enjoyed the richer vein of form, netting twice in nine Premier League appearances whilst averaging an impressive 3.3 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per match.

But ageing legs continue to plague the veteran centre-mid and although Noble's by no means the fastest either, it remains a weakness he could capitalise on if given the rare chance to venture forward.

Most of the battle, however, will centre around the skirmish for control in central midfield. Either midfielder winning it would give their respective side a real foothold in the match.
