Emmanuel Frimpong

Whereas the majority of this season’s released players are edging into the twilight of their careers, Emmanuel Frimpong, set to be departing from Arsenal, is just 21 years of age.

A few years ago, the Ghana international was held in high regard at the Emirates following a short stint in the first team and impressive displays on loan at Wolves, but persistent injuries appear to be getting in the way of Frimpong’s development as a footballer.

The Gunners have decided Frimpong is no longer worth the risk following quiet loan spells at Charlton and Fulham, however, should the defensive midfielder join a club that can provide him more game time, he still has a chance of becoming a Premier League force.

The former Arsenal man has all the skills required – strength, pace, power, defensive nous and ability on the ball – he just needs to be smoothed around the edges, and is surely worth a punt considering he will be available for free.
