Forward set for surprise West Ham lifeline

West Ham forward Mauro Zarate could be in line for a second chance at West Ham after reports of a failed medical at QPR emerged this morning.

The Chile international looked set for a loan switch from east to west London after failing to make an impression on West Ham boss Sam Allardyce since arriving at the club in the summer.

But reports this morning suggest has since failed a medical, with some reports suggesting a lack of game time has left him out of shape.

And QPR boss Harry Redknapp also cooled any talk of a deal being completed, insisting nothing has been confirmed just yet.

He told West London Sport: “I’m not sure. We’ll wait and see what happens. We’ll have to look at it and see where we go.”

Zarate recently appeared to burn all bridges with Allardyce by claiming the Hammers boss wouldn’t play him because it was the chairman that signed him.

But his Upton Park escape route appearing to have hit a snag, Zarate looks set for a second chance to impress.
