West Ham United's January target Serhou Guirassy put in a superb performance for Amiens as they went on to draw 4-4 against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

On the chalkboard

The Hammers had been looking for a striker during the January transfer window, something that didn't eventually come off, with their trio of signings being Darren Randolph, Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen.

This need for a frontman comes with Sebastien Haller having gone five Premier League matches without a goal or assist, while Albian Ajeti is yet to record either in a claret and blue shirt.

All of that led them to Amiens' door as the end of the window approached, making an offer to bring Guirassy in on loan, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.

The French outfit had been pushing for a permanent deal, but were open to letting the striker leave on loan, though that eventually didn't come to fruition.

With West Ham failing to bring in the 23-year-old, he showed them what they are missing through his display against PSG.

Impressive performance

He had opened the scoring within five minutes of kick-off, after making an intelligent run behind the opposition defence to lose Nianzou Kouassi, and then striking the ball under Keylor Navas.

The Frenchman then played a key part in Gael Kakuta's goal, winning the initial header from a long ball, before producing a smart dummy that allowed the ball to run through to the former Chelsea player.

From this point Amiens did go 3-0 up - with Guirassy's hold up play starting the move - before three goals conceded from corners and a Mauro Icardi tap in put the French giants 4-3 up.

However, Guirassy ensured that his team would come away from the game with a point, as in the 91st minute he made a bursting run through the middle to get onto a low ball from the right and slot it past Navas with a cool first-time finish.

Call yourself a West Ham expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

In addition to all of the above, he made one key pass, completed his only attempted dribble during the game and won one aerial duel.

The prolificacy and efficiency shown in his play is exactly what West Ham could do with at the moment.

Meanwhile, West Ham are part of a scramble to sign an exciting Dutch talent.
