The pressure may well be growing on West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini following their latest defeat against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, and Irons fans were certainly left unimpressed with one decision in particular he made against the Eagles.

The east London outfit had taken the lead at Selhurst Park through Robert Snodgrass' 57th minute goal, and the Chilean boss decided to immediately take Pablo Fornals off and replace him with Manuel Lanzini, who went to the left-hand side.

It was perhaps a harsh decision on the Spaniard who didn't play particularly badly, and his defensive contribution was particularly impressive during his time on the pitch – one tackle and two interceptions according to WhoScored.

Of course, the Hammers went on to lose 2-1 with Cheikhou Kouyate and Jordan Ayew scoring the goals for the hosts, leaving Pellegrini's men just one place above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

West Ham supporters certainly weren't happy with the call to bring Lanzini on Fornals immediately after taking the advantage.

One fan labelled their manager as a "dinosaur", while another called him "clueless".

One fans went into a little more detail about Lanzini's positioning and believe he should have played centrally off the striker rather than out wide.

Another saw exactly what was coming immediately after the substitution, predicting that the Argentine wouldn't run like his teammate had.
