West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez has confirmed that he is attempting to leave the club this summer, via a YouTube video named “The Naked Humans”.

What’s the word?

Hernandez made 14 starts in the Premier League in 2018/19, playing just a bit-part role for Manuel Pellegrini despite his obvious talent.

Football FanCast reported prior to the opening of the summer transfer window that the Irons deemed the former Manchester United striker expendable.

They have already allowed both Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll to leave the club and Chicharito has now confirmed that he has instructed his agent to work on a transfer away from the London Stadium.

He said: “He’s (Hernandez’s agent) searching for a club, if we can move. If not I will stay with West Ham easy, happy.

“I have one year left, but West Ham and I have decided it would just be easier to go out.”

A dangerous game

West Ham are playing with fire here.

They currently have two senior strikers, Marko Arnautovic and Hernandez, given the way the summer has gone so far.

The club have spent £24m to sign Pablo Fornals, leaving £6m left of the £30m budget that was promised to Manuel Pellegrini, as confirmed by Football FanCast.

That simply isn’t a lot of money to buy a replacement for the Mexico international and he is unlikely to fetch too high a fee given that his contract expires in a year.

Allowing him to leave without knowing if they can actually replace him seems like a recipe for disaster.

West Ham must tread very carefully.
