West Ham United will look to end a run of four matches without a win in all competitions when they host Watford at the London Stadium on Saturday.

The Irons looked to be rising up the Premier League table when they beat Huddersfield Town 4-1 at the John Smith's Stadium towards the start of January, but they have taken just two points in three Premier League fixtures since then against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion, while they were also beaten 2-0 by League One outfit Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

David Moyes' men drew 1-1 at home against the Cherries and the Eagles and now lie just three points above the relegation zone with a trip to Liverpool to come following the clash against the Hornets, and the Scot will know the importance of taking all three points against Javi Gracia's men at such a crucial stage of the campaign.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss may want to ring the changes after a poor performance in the 3-1 loss against Brighton last time out, although with a number of injuries and suspensions his options are limited and he may have to settle for just one or two alterations.

Here is how West Ham could line up against Watford on Saturday, ahead of Adrian in goal…

Defence

Moyes lined up with a three-man defence against the Seagulls last weekend, and it's fair to say that the trio of James Collins, Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice all struggled – particularly with the first goal.

While Ogbonna has been one of the club's best performers at the back this season, he has played every minute of every game since the October 28, and perhaps he needs a breather with his performances beginning to dip in recent weeks.

Moyes had Winston Reid and Jose Fonte on the substitutes' bench at the Amex Stadium, and at least one – and perhaps both – of them could start against Watford.

With a lack of attacking options and Marko Arnautovic unlikely to be involved from the start even if he proves his fitness, West Ham could stick with the 3-4-2-1 system with Aaron Cresswell likely to start on the left despite Patrice Evra's arrival, while Pablo Zabaleta is likely to start ahead of Sam Byram on the opposite side if he isn't needed in central midfield.

Zabaleta lined up alongside captain Mark Noble in the middle of the park against Brighton with Cheikhou Kouyate further forward, but Moyes may want to take more attacking risks when they host Watford at home.

The Senegal international may well drop back to play alongside Noble, with Michail Antonio one of the options to play with Joao Mario in an attacking midfield role, after he returned to action as second-half substitute against the Seagulls having been omitted from the squad to face Crystal Palace previously for being late for a team meeting.

With Andy Carroll injured, Diafra Sakho and Andre Ayew leaving the club during the January transfer window and Marko Arnautovic unlikely to be risked from the start against Watford even if he is passed fit, Moyes doesn't have too many striking options against the Hornets.

The Scot basically has a straight choice between Javier Hernandez, Michail Antonio and new boy Jordan Hugill, and while the latter could be suited to this game given that Watford are known to be a strong team physically, it is the former that is likely to get the nod after he found the net in the 3-1 defeat against Brighton last time out.
