West Ham United completed the £4m signing of Arsenal attacker Lucas Perez during the summer, and both the player and Irons fans would surely have expected him to have played a bigger role than he has so far this season.

The Spaniard, who earns £80,000-a-week for the east London outfit according to Spotrac, had a decent record for the Gunners when he was given game time, but that often didn't come enough.

The 30-year-old would have been hoping that starts would be more frequent following his move to the London Stadium, but he has found himself behind Marko Arnautovic in the pecking order for the centre-forward position in Manuel Pellegrini's preferred 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1 and 4-3-3 systems in recent weeks, featuring in just 65 minutes of Premier League football.

In addition, he has struggled for game time on the wing – a position he played in the Carabao Cup against Macclesfield Town on Wednesday night when he scored his first goal for the club – with new boys Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmonlenko, as well as Michail Antonio and Robert Snodgrass – all natural wide players.

This all begs the question – is Perez worth his £80,000-a-week wages given he is arguably third-choice striker behind Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez, and is also unlikely to get many games out wide?

We would suggest it is another bad financial decision by the club, but we want West Ham fans to tell us whether they agree, or not.
