When Jack Wilshere signed for West Ham United in the summer, many saw it as an opportunity for the midfielder to get his career back on track.

The England international dropped down the rankings at Arsenal following a heavy bout of injury problems.

As a result, he opted not to sign a new contract and instead moved to the London Stadium on a free transfer.

Wilshere played in the opening four Premier League matches of the season before getting struck down with an ankle problem, which in the end required surgery.

The midfielder has not featured since, but it appears that he could be fighting for his place from January if transfer rumours are to be believed.

According to The Mirror, West Ham are prepared to offer free agent Samir Nasri a six-month contract if he can prove his fitness.

The former Manchester City midfielder, who has plenty of Premier League experience having also played for Arsenal, has been serving a suspension for using a banned substance.

If Nasri signs on the dotted line, then Wilshere could drop down the pecking order, but would that be fair?
