West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez has largely endured a difficult time since joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017, and in truth things haven't got much easier for the Mexico international under the tutelage of Manuel Pellegrini this term.

The 30-year-old surely would have expected to be a regular in the starting XI considering the pedigree he arrived at the London Stadium with, but the form and impressive displays of Marko Arnautovic have meant he has often had to settle for a spot on the substitutes' bench in 2018.

The centre-forward has made just the one start in the English top flight during the current campaign – during the 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth last month – while he missed out on the 18-man squad for the east London outfit's first win of the campaign against Everton at Goodison Park last time out because of virus.

Those circumstances would surely make a start unlikely against the current Premier League leaders, however Arnautovic is a doubt according to Sky Sports, while Hernandez's incredible goal record against the Blues will surely have caught his manager's attention.

The Mexican has nine goals – eight for Manchester United and one for West Ham last season – when facing the team from west London, proving he is a clever penalty-box player who can get the better of the backline of Maurizio Sarri's men this weekend.
