HYS: Should West Ham take a gamble on Santi Cazorla?

West Ham unveiled Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager on Tuesday morning, but could he make a surprise swoop for an Arsenal favourite?

It was announced this week that Santi Cazorla will not renew his contract with the club, meaning the Spaniard will be on the hunt for a new home this summer after six years and over 100 league appearances for the north Londoners.

The Spaniard has had a horrific time with injuries in the last 18 months, and has not played a single minute for the Gunners this season, but fans absolutely adore the little magician, and he will always be a fan favourite at the Emirates.

That said, he has been nearing full fitness recently, and was even training at the Emirates earlier this year.

Of course, the 33 year-old’s injury issues mean he couldn’t be relied upon as a the number one option in midfield, but he will be available on a free transfer, so he could prove a risk worth taking for West Ham.

When Cazorla is fit, he offers the type of control in midfield that the Hammers are crying out for. Surround him with plenty of energy and he could pull the strings for Pellergrini’s free flowing football.

So, West Ham fans, would you take a punt on the free signing of Santi Cazorla? Let us know by voting in the poll below…
