Most of the time when footballers move their careers to the United States, they tend to be reaching the end of their professional spell.

Ashley Cole signed for Los Angeles Galaxy in 2016, but will become a free agent in January after the MLS outfit opted not to renew his terms.

The left-back has played a major role in English football having spent the majority of his career at Arsenal and then Chelsea.

As well as winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League, Cole racked up 107 international caps for England.

At the moment, West Ham United are having some problems with their left-back options.

Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell are failing to deliver, which opens the door to a potential new arrival.

At the age of 37, it will not be long until Cole hangs up his boots for good, but perhaps he would be a decent option for the Hammers on a short-term basis.
