West Ham are reportedly struggling to agree a new contract with Declan Rice, so is it time to consider selling the versatile youngster?
According to reports, West Ham are involved in “a game of cat and mouse” with the representatives of 19 year-old Rice.
The report claims Rice wants £30,000 per week to sign a new deal with the club, but the current offer is only £18,000 with bonuses that could take it up to £30,000.
His current deal runs out next summer, meaning the Hammers are facing the prospect of losing him for free if they don’t get this sorted.
Rice broke through to the first team last season as a centre back, and has put in some wonderful performances both as a centre back and a defensive midfielder.
There are some inconsistencies there, but a 19 year-old that is already intelligent and versatile enough to play multiple positions is a huge asset for the club to have.
Fans typically hate it when players kick up a fuss about wages, so what should the Hammers do with Rice?
Should a new deal be a no-brainer? Bench him until he lowers his demands? West Ham fans, let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
