With West Ham reportedly closing in on the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini, who would be the best fit in the Hammers’ dugout next season?

According to the Evening Standard, West Ham are ready to pay former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini around £10million a year to take over from David Moyes.

The report claims the deal could even be done early this week, but are there better options out there?

One name that has been linked tirelessly to the West Ham job is Paulo Fonseca, who’s Shakhtar team were one of the surprises of the Champions League this season, beating Napoli to second spot in an extremely tough group.

Fonseca signed an extended deal with Shakhtar last week, and it remains to be seen whether that is simply to get more money from West Ham, or whether the interest in moving to London was all a ploy to get an improved deal from his current club.

Rafael Benitez is the name on most fans’ lips, and his proven track record certainly speaks for itself.

The Spaniard has worked wonders with a rather poor Newcastle squad this season, but the media and fan pressure would be absolutely immense if Benitez took over, and his more tactical, defensive style is not really what fans are looking for.

Benitez is of course a fantastic manager, but how quickly would the fans turn on him if they started next season like Newcastle started this one?

Pellegrini combines the best of both worlds, bringing an exciting, flowing style, Premier League experience and of course title winning experience.

So, West Ham fans, who do you want in charge next season? Let us know by voting in the poll below…
