When Jack Wilshere joined West Ham United in the summer, it gave the midfielder an opportunity to revive his career.

The 26-year-old dropped down the rankings at Arsenal due to injuries and fitness issues.

Rather than sign a new contract and continue his career at the Emirates under new manager Unai Emery, Wilshere decided to leave in order to gain regular minutes elsewhere.

The midfielder was seemingly promised that at West Ham, but he may struggle to get back into the team when he returns to fitness.

Wilshere started the Hammers' first four Premier League matches in the midfield alongside Mark Noble, and the team lost each one.

The England international was criticised by some fans for his performances and since suffering an ankle injury, which will keep him out of action for a further five weeks, Declan Rice has come into the side.

The 19-year-old has shone alongside Noble, helping the team go on a three-game unbeaten run in the league.

This raises the question of whether Wilshere should be brought back into the team.
