In Focus: Giroud can be the goal scoring force to save West Ham’s season

As reported by The Mirror, West Ham United are interested in bringing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to the London Stadium.

What’s the story?

Despite an impressive victory at home to Chelsea on Saturday, the Hammers are still in the English Premier League relegation zone. With tough matches home and away to come over the next month, David Moyes needs reinforcements in January if they’re to find a comfortable finish in the top-flight.

One player they’re interested in is Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, who was Arsenal’s goal hero away to Southampton on Sunday.

That’s according to The Mirror, who say that the player is seeking a move away from the Gunners this January in order to ensure his place in France’s World Cup squad.

The paper reckon that West Ham are interested, in a loan move initially, but will be competing with Crystal Palace for his signature.

What West Ham need?

With the Irons seemingly blighted by regular injuries to their striking stars, bringing in a proven Premier League scoring talent would be an excellent move by David Moyes and they rarely come more reliable in that regard than Olivier Giroud.

With 105 goals for Arsenal in his time there, he knows his way to the back of the net and has netted seven times already this season despite not starting a single Premier League match.

He’s under-utilised at the Emirates and at West Ham could find the first team football he needs to find consistent form.

On a loan deal it’s a no brainer, especially when he has the ability to find the goals that can move them up the table.
