Inability to sell unwanted star blocking big transfer move for West Ham

West Ham’s club-record £20.5m move for Andre Ayew will be their last big piece of business for the summer unless they can offload Diafra Sakho, according to reports from The Sun.

The Hammers have been active in the transfer market in recent weeks, with their imminent loan deal for Jonathan Calleri set to be their TENTH addition of the window.

As well as incomings, outgoings have been happening at the London Stadium, but reports claim that one player they are struggling to get rid of, Sakho, is de-railing their last minute plans.

The Senegalese forward almost joined West Brom a couple of weeks ago, but after he failed a medical with the Midlands club the £16m deal was scrapped.

It’s understood that West Ham are reliant on the funds from selling Sakho, with a source close to the club having told The Sun:

“With the wage cap and Sakho now not going anywhere we can only afford one or the other.

“The manager prefers Ayew as he can play in more positions.

“Despite talk continuing that the club could be involved in moving for Bacca, that won’t be possible.

“With £16m in the kitty and released wages from a Sakho move, both players were targets, but that is not possible.”

Carlos Bacca has been a long-term target, but recent reports have suggested that the Colombian is eager to stay at AC Milan.
