Insider: West Ham expected to launch transfer raid for ‘next Ashley Cole’ this week

According to anonymous insider ‘ExWhuEmployee‘, West Ham will launch a transfer swoop for Walsall defender Rico Henry this week.

The 19-year-old is rated as one of the Football League’s most exciting young talents, as a regular member of a Saddlers side that reached the League One playoffs last season.

Capable of playing at full-back or in left-midfield and famed for his contributions going forward, former manager Dean Smith compared the teenager to former Arsenal and Chelsea star Ashley Cole back in October 2015.

A number of Premier League clubs were linked with the England U19 ahead of the summer window, namely Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester City, Swansea City and Southampton.

But anonymous blogger ExWhuEmployee¬†believes Henry is now firmly in West Ham’s crosshairs, claiming in his column on the West Ham Way¬†that the East London club are likely to move for him this week.

The Irons are in need of some cover at left-back after parting with experienced full-back Joey O’Brien.
