When West Ham United beat Chelsea 1-0, putting an end to their eight-game winless streak in all competitions, Roberto was not the only player who had been taken out of the side.

Manuel Pellegrini’s hand was forced, as Issa Diop’s yellow card against Tottenham Hotspur meant he was suspended for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

He then didn't even make the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers due to tactical reasons, as reported by ExWHUemployee.

When this is considered, it can be suggested that Diop, who is rated at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, could struggle to force his way back into the team.

His cause won't be helped by the superb performances put in by Angelo Ogbonna and Fabian Balbuena against Chelsea, as the pair combined to make 16 clearances, block two shots, produce four interceptions and two tackles, while also winning five of their eight duels.

The 22-year-old has also not covered himself in glory this season. A particular weakness falls in the fact he struggles when being pulled out into wide areas, which has led to him committing rash fouls against the likes of Dan James.

He was also truly disappointing during West Ham's 3-2 loss against Tottenham Hotspur, as he was easily done by Heung-min Son for the opener, then beaten in the air without much resistance for Harry Kane to score Spurs' third.

This means there is likely no guarantee he will be able to walk back into the team, so the Frenchman may have a struggle on his hands.

In other news, one West Ham defender has been criticised by fans for his performance against Wolves.
